SigmaXG Capture allows users of SigmaXG to capture their video streams. With this new product, SigmaXG manufacturer Technolution, fulfills a long-standing wish of many users to be able to record and share video information.

SigmaXG Capture makes a regular PC behave as a virtual SigmaXG NDcoder, enabling it to receive one or more SigmaXG video streams. On the PC, the video (and embedded audio) signals are presented as a DirectShow filter to any application on the PC that wishes to use it. DirectShow is a multimedia framework for processing multimedia data in a PC environment. Often used for receiving, editing, and (trans)coding information, DirectShow is supported by a wide range of hardware and software.

Potential use cases for SigmaXG Capture include:

  • Recording one or multiple streams;
  • Previewing or displaying one or more streams;
  • Sharing streams over the internet.

Version 1.0 of SigmaXG Capture is supported by SigmaXG server 2.8.x and 2.9.x. It provides DirectShow interfaces to import a maximum of two SigmaXG video + audio streams, depending on the resolution: for resolutions up to 1920*1200, two streams can be imported (provided two licenses were bought). For higher resolutions, only one stream can be imported at the same time.

SigmaXG Capture is therefore available in two license configurations:

  • 1 license: 4k30 (one stream)
  • 2 licenses: dual full HD (max. two streams)

The following hardware and software requirements apply:

  • Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro or later
  • Recording software that is compatible with DirectShow.
  • For recording: an i7 9700K processor, 3.4 GHz (in non-turbo mode) with 8GB ram is recommended. Single core performance is more important than multicore performance.
  • A 10G Network Interface Card (NIC) must be installed. The NIC has to support jumbo frames, Rx buffers and interrupt moderation.
  • Tested with Intel X520, Marvell 41102, Mellanox ConnectX 3.

Version 2.0, now in development, will support 4k60 streams as well.
